Palometa House

Isolated single-family house located in an enviable landscape enclave in the Comarca de la Plana Alta in the interior of Castellón. The owners, a foreign couple, wanted a house that could be integrated into its natural environment, adapting it to the natural topography of the land, taking advantage of the terraces of the existing land and, on the other hand, they wanted it to be self-sufficient and with minimal energy consumption.

Being a house for seasonal use, a fundamental premise was the issue of security, for which iron lattices were designed, fixed in some cases and mobile in others, which would become one of the singularities of the house together with stone masonry walls. These two elements, along with corten steel, are what give character to the house. The house is made up of three modules, two for housing and another for garage-barbecue. The housing program is developed on a single floor, a module where the day area is located, with a living-dining room and kitchen, with a courtesy toilet and an ironing room, and a night module where three rooms with two bathrooms and a suite with its bathroom and dressing room.

Regarding the materiality of the house, we wanted to go for noble and typical materials of the surrounding houses, but at the same time giving it a more contemporary touch, combining them in a pure way. The dry stone of the walls, corten steel, wood, exposed concrete and glass are the main materials of the house.
